It's Almost Christmas

I love Christmas, I love buying and receiving gifts, I love all the christmassy food, I love the decorations, I love everything about it, I love that two of my three kids will be here in our new house and new town over the holidays.

A couple of weeks ago there was Carols in the Park followed by fireworks right across the road from us I was so excited, we had our chairs in the front yard eating hotdogs for dinner waiting for the display and it was great

The garden is doing great I have been making pickles and pickles and then more pickles, oh and pickled cucumbers as well.

The roses are loving the heat and rain
There has been a lotof rain more up river than here in town but the Namoi flooded and broke its banks we went uo to Porcupine Mountain to have a look at the water everywhere and then up to Pensioners lookout to see the other side of town and there are some great sculptures in the park there, I heard the government has given a grant for more sculptures and an eagle statue.

I have been doing a bit of sewing I used this piece of scrap fabric and made a see through pouch for my Zoom class blocks. I went to a mystery layer cake quilt workshop in town and made theis gorgeous quilt top and then I finished my "Whirligig" flimsy, a pattern by Emme Jean Jansen. I have finished a couple of old works in progress so hopefully 2022 will bring on more quilt finishes.

November already!!

Ok so where did October go?

I have been going to a quilt shop in Coolah, which is a 90 minute drive, which is 90 minutes of my music on the stereo as loud as I please, then the ladies in the group are lovely, friendly and very creative, a bite for lunch and then drive home. a lovely day each fortnight. I found this group on facebook they were doing a zoom class in lockdown making 6"  sampler blocks these are the ones I have done so far.

The plan is to make a few more then sash and join them altogether.

I attended a workshop locally it was a layer cake mystery quilt I am loving the colours together and I have almost finished the top.

We got a drenching yesterday so we went for a drive around town to get a few pictures and have a look we are still exploring the area. There was a lot of water in the creeks and low lying areas.

Apparently I finally used my sewing machine for something useful (according to Dave) I sew the sides of teh shade cloth for the garden.
The Jacarandas are in full flower I'm not sure if there is more on the trees or the ground under them. we went up to the lookout and could see purple everywhere.

I am also making a huge mess in my sewing room sewing 1 1/2' strips making an "Everything Goes" quilt pattern by These Clever Hands. I started the quilt earlier in the year and packed it away to move and found it with some batting scraps that I am joining to make a big piece for placemats.

Happy Sewing

I would love to have the image for the blog hop but it's not happening here today

Joan @ Moose Stash Quilting is running a new blog hop Falling For You and today is my turn.

Here in Australia we are in spring but what the hey?

I thought I would make a little table runner with blocks from Lori Holts book Quilty Fun.

So out came the book and a bag of Lori Holt fabric that I have made bits and pieces with (I still have a fair bit left) and I started cutting teeny tiny bits.

At this stage I had two choices of the center fabric, orange or blue/ So I consulted with an expert, I messaged my good friend Anorina from @sameliasmum and she agreed with the blue I did prefer the blue.

So then I quilted around the leaves with mono thread and did a few straight lines in the centre maybe one day I will do a bit of hand quilting in the centre but not today and it's finished and I'm happy

I should probably say these links won't work I need some blog lessons.

Have a great day and thenks for stopping by.
